Good Ole Graham, I Love This Guy!

The man who is a Pacific Islander himself hence his brand name suggests, Graham Michael, the man with 2 first names has returned yet again to the Asian side of the ocean in an effort to deliver the airports many of us want but are simply not getting. Salt Lake and Reno sat vacant in FS for way too damn long and so has the 2 primary South Korean airports Incheon and Seoul. The latter of those two airports last saw representation in flight simulation on behalf of OverlandJP. To be quite honest, I really miss Overland. They introduced me to Japan and covered nearly every major (and interesting) airport the country has to offer. To this day, Japan has always been the most exciting country I have ever enjoyed in FS. But those days are long gone and every time Graham tries his stake under the Red Sun, he always finds someone else jumping in on the competition only leading him to pull out.

But hey, no one is looking at South Korea right now so i’d say it’s a safe bet that not only is there some reasonable demand, but not much chance his toes will be stepped on. PacSim just keeps getting better & better with each and every release and just looking at the previews dating from this month all the way back to august, i’m blown away. Graham, keep up the good work and looking for the next time you sneak up behind me as you are also so good at. Check out the latest, looks like not too far now!

Aerosoft Erfurt Released! But Let's Talk About This Though...

airport-erfurt (5).jpg

Uh-oh, here come another one of D’Andre’s boringass long walks down memory lane. But yes. I gotta do this. Because Aerosoft, Erfurt, and AirDailyX Classic has something of a colorful history here. Back in 2012, Aerosoft entered what I might call the desperate years. ACES studios was shut down and there was no clear direction of what would come next to sustain flight simulation. The way I saw things at the time, is Aerosoft had lowered the bar with regards to their quality threshold in order to get more products on-board and Erfurt, (the one released back in 2011) was a clear representation of this move. And when Dominique got his hands on it, he was NOT pleased and made it known. Allow me to for a moment, link you back into history:

Okay so now that you have read those articles, and the comments, eventually the results of which led to quite a backlash against Aerosoft leading to the removal of the product from the webshops. This was also coupled with a promise to the FS community and their customers to implement increased diligence and measures going forward in how they assess products they put their branding on. This led to the removal of other products including two that were in production including Dreamflight Studios Rome Fiumicino, (released on Simmarket instead) and FSDG Deutschland X (which I don’t think ever got released)

You really could count on us to be honest in our news coverage as opposed to blindly covering news especially on bad products and the results led to positive changes. I still stand by that. So now that Aerosoft has just released a whole new version of Erfurt, I am for one, seriously curious about the quality and who the developer is. The product page screenshots are a bit difficult to make out qualitywise… I’ll need to take a much closer look at this one.

Update: I’ve added more images and Initial thoughts on the PR applications on the 3D objects, the low res imagery isn’t inspiring much enthusiasm at present. I am also taking into consideration recently released German airports: Nuremburg, Cologne Bonn, and Bremen from developers 29Palms, Jo Erlend, and FSDG’s Sasha respectively, coupled with the comparative pricing all between $20-$25 dollars and I can’t honestly say, based on what I am seeing here, Erfurt is quite out of place here. I am also curious as to why the product was send direct to release without a stop in the preview forums. And comparing these shots to those of the original, I fail to see much improvement. Honestly, it feels very early FS9 to me. Your thoughts? More information via the source link below.

Lionheart Creations Tango 2 Released!

Good ole William Ortis! Always thinking about the aircraft almost none of us are. But I suppose that’s the good thing about Lionheart Creations. Somewhere between the C172’s and 747’s, many of us need something different to experience. Now granted, some of Bill’s toys are a bit more outlandish than others but overall, Lionheart aircraft very uniquely fill a void that is the awe and wonder of flight simulation. Aircraft such at the Avelina, Blade, Q200 and the now released, Tango 2. And among those, the aircraft that are very well received such as the Lear 24B and Tobago just to name a couple. And sadly not on this list are the quietly canceled Pipistrel Panthera, and Fokker F100. Nevertheless, Lionheart Creations is very much still in the game and if you are looking to add a new GA aircraft to your collection, you can grab the Revolution Aviation Tango 2 for about $26 bucks!

Bill, Thomas, Misha, Lars, Volker, Cal: HOLY CRAP!

The oddest thing about being outside the realm of flight simulation is the not having a damn clue on what the hell is going on. I have maintained my relationships with many people including the development community but whats so crazy is when people are coming up to me with dish that they used to go to me to get. Or developers emailing me and asking what I think of their new previews or announcements and I am like what??

I seriously have been away from flight simulation. Last year alone I may have completed 15 flights, the ENTIRE YEAR! And i’ve only checked news sites a hand full of times when someone sent me a link. I kid you not, I have truly been out of the loop with everything! But that said, I have returned to find some seriously cool shit get released! Yep you just saw foul language. Yep. I’m back.

So right now I am in catch-up mode and in doing so, I gotta name drop on the stuff I have seen or have thus far and bang some shoutouts for some developers I have been covering for years prior to my “absence”

Bill Womack: Dude, what the absolute f*ck with PDX! Holy hell did you nail that hard! I swear it’s like nostalgia revisiting the Flightscenery version from FS9. I have been wanting that airport for YEARS and not only did you nail it, you killed it by bring it it back to life. Seriously, this was a HUGE project for you. your biggest ever by far and words simply cant describe the pride I feel with what you have accomplished here. Congratulations on the release Bill, it’s amazing! Review coming soon if not already published by the time this site goes live.

Thomas LG: I remember all those years ago when you first reached out to me regarding your Marseilles scenery. Damn I thought you were good then! But watching you improve and outperform yourself with each release never ceases to amaze me. Linate had me on my knees, but Orly put me on my back (even I am not sure what I mean by that) but to say you are absolutely on fire man! Congrats on a job well done! Review coming if not already complete. All the best on Blagnac, I cant wait to get my hands on it!

Misha Cajic: It took you for freaking EVER!! To get SBA out, but you did it man and made me proud! The most bias review is in the works, just waiting for you to all those watermasked islands! You did an amazing job man. I remember when you were like 13 when you first reached out to me with your MCA scenery and seeing how far you’ve come just blows my mind! Stay focused in school, and can’t wait to see more!!!

Lars & Volker: I have wanted Nuremburg ever since I trashed my FS9 version from the German Airports Team back in 2008. That was a LONG freaking wait! And I really gotta say, what you two have delivered is far beyond what I could have asked for. The quality is just so damn kick ass, no wonder it’s up on the Flightbeam website! It took a long time guys but the wait was worth it! Review coming or complete already.

Cal Lewin: You finally did it with Singapore! I have always been in your corner ever since you first reached out to me and even though I do not own it yet, I can already see it’s looking amazing!! You have come such a long way in your development talent and if it’s one thing you can count on is this cheerleader waving the pompoms for you!

I should also note my boys over at Turbulent Designs! If any one can find my words from way back then, I said, these Turbulent guys’ future is anything but turbulent and the work just keeps getting better and better with each parking lot and grain of wood! Love you guys!

If anyone was left out, that’s because I am still playing catch up but i’ll get there!!
